WHL Playoffs: Spokane Chiefs survive second-round slugfest, meet familiar foe Portland in Western Conference finals

It was a battle of attrition, but after a Game 6 double-overtime 5-4 win on Tuesday, the Spokane Chiefs outlasted the Victoria Royals to advance to the Western Hockey League Western Conference finals.

Of course, Tuesday’s Game 6 in the Western Conference semifinals went to overtime. With the way the series played out, there was no other logical conclusion.

They've been off since, and their Western Conference semifinal series against the Victoria Royals was the last of the four Western Hockey League second-round matchups to start – with some completing two games before the Chiefs and Royals got started.
