Saying they are out of options, Kootenai County Jail administrators are asking for help in solving chronic crowding problems. Dozens of cells in the 11-year-old jail are double-bunked. Mattresses in others are thrown on the floor to squeeze an extra inmate into an already cramped cell.

A North Idaho College employee resigned Friday amid allegations that child pornography was found on his office computer. Police are investigating a report that four pictures found on the 29-year-old employee's computer by college technicians depict naked or partially clothed minors. Three showed minors engaged in sex acts.

A Smelterville man has been charged with injuring a child during a roll-over accident last month. James L. Green allegedly was driving drunk when his car rolled Feb. 7 on Interstate 90 near Kellogg. The 10-year-old boy riding with him was thrown from the car and seriously injured, said Idaho State Police Cpl. Rick Field. ISP officers arrested Green Tuesday on a warrant charging him with felony injury to a child and driving with a suspended license. He is being held in the Shoshone County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
