SEATTLE – The Seahawks added to their tight end room Monday, signing eight-year veteran Eric Saubert, who spent last season in a reserve role with the San Francisco 49ers.

One thing the NFL free -agency signing period does is make clearer the needs of each team entering the draft.

SEATTLE – The Seattle Seahawks’ additions of receivers with home state ties didn’t stop with Cooper Kupp.

SEATTLE – When the Seattle Seahawks announced earlier this week that outside linebacker/rush end Uchenna Nwosu was changing his jersey number to 7 to accommodate new receiver Cooper Kupp’s desire to keep his No. 10, it indicated that Nwosu was still in the team’s plans for 2025.

Cooper Kupp is no DK ... and that's OK. Cut the comparisons. Of course, I understand the temptation, considering the circumstances. After DK Metcalf requested a trade and was subsequently shipped to Pittsburgh for a second-round pick, Kupp — who was recently released by the Los Angeles Rams — filled his roster spot. 

There are currently no odds in the sportsbooks for NFL team win totals next season. It's not quite right to post those numbers when free agency is still going and the draft awaits. But I imagine when it's time to do so, the oddsmakers are going to be baffled when it comes to the Seahawks. Next season's squad is one of the greatest unknowns in the history of the franchise.

As Seattle faces an uncertain future, that's the question that matters most. Not whether Darnold is an upgrade over Geno Smith, who the Seahawks stunningly traded to the Las Vegas Raiders (and coach Pete Carroll) last week.
