Your Outdoors Photos: August 2018

The Inland Northwest is full of flora, fauna, waters, scenery and active people out to savor it all. Please visit this gallery regularly to share photos of your wild experiences, learning moments, hot discoveries, favorite trips. Help us build a visual tour of what's so great about the outdoors in this region through all four seasons. This photo gallery will be an inspiration to some people. To others it will be a reminder of why we love to live here -- and get outside as much as possible.

  • I have to drive to Seattle often for meetings and I try to find spots I can rest on the way. Most of the time one of those stops is Vantage. Last week when I stopped there was a herd of big horned sheep on the lawn at the park office. This time there were two males, two very small, two teens and a few females there. I was excited since I have never seen the males with the herd. I might call this one is Excited to See the Herd

  • This is a Pika or comely called a (rock rabbit) they live at high elevation temps in the 80 and 90 degree range are very hard on them. Global warming may become a real threat for them. My wife Sandy and I went to about 9000 feet to find this little fellow. Aug 1 2018 Southwest Montana.

  • The algae blooms in the ponds and lakes on either side of the Columbia Plateau Trail going through the north end of Turnbull is really thick with the warm weather. This American Coot looks like he's swimming in peasoup instead of water the 1st week of August

  • Male American Goldfinch in July color. I found it interesting when researching the bird that the male varies in color a great deal from month to month. During the mid summer months he is in full breeding colors and then starts to fade in fall. Taken on the Columbia Plateau Trail near Cheney, end of July.
