Titanic items to be auctioned

Some 5,000 artifacts from the world's most famous shipwreck are to be auctioned in April, close to the 100th anniversary of the disaster.

This 2008 photo shows currency that is part of the artifacts collection of the Titanic at an Atlanta warehouse. The owner of the largest trove of artifacts salvaged is putting the collection up for auction as a single lot in 2012, the 100th anniversary of the world’s most famous shipwreck. The auction is scheduled for April 11 by Guernsey’s, a New York City auction house, according to filings by Premier Exhibitions Inc. with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
