Dance of Sun & Moon
The Spokane Valley Arts Council has donated the 16.5 foot tall bronze statue of Plains Indian legend Sun & Moon. "Dance of Sun & Moon", by Colville artist Jerry McKellar to Spokane Valley, was installed Thursday morning, March 26, 2015. The legend says "Sun made a daily journey across the horizon to the West where he entered his lodge to pass the night. Moon, his wife, also dwelt in Sun's lodge, but they would only see each other in passing each morning and evening. The statue was maneuvered into its permanent location in Mirabeau Point Park on the corner of Mansfield Avenue and Discovery Place.
