Historic building burns in DeSmet
The Sisters of Charity of Providence school in DeSmet, Idaho burned overnight Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011. The building was more than 100 years old and was a landmark in the tiny settlement of DeSmet on the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation.

In 1953 the Sisters of Charity of Providence Convent School in Desmet, Idaho, had a new fire escape built onto their school. The students gathered on the apparatus to test it and have a photo taken.
