Add to the Fairchild water contamination well testing map
Fairchild Air Force Base has claimed responsibility for groundwater contamination involving toxic, man-made fluorinated chemicals. The Air Force has deployed crews to test private wells surrounding the base, but it has refused to disclose the precise location of each well. To see how far the chemicals have spread, The Spokesman-Review is building a map based on information from West Plains residents who have had their wells tested. If you live near Fairchild and have had your well tested for PFOA and/or PFOS contamination, please provide the street address or GPS coordinates of the well. Please also provide the results of those tests, if you have them (for example: 7 parts per trillion). And feel free to leave us notes if you have any health concerns related to water contamination.
