Led by Jake Wells, Pullman cruises by West Valley 58-47 for District 7 championship

PULLMAN – Their coach was battling a case of Bronchitis, their top player was still getting over his flu and at least four other Pullman players were afflicted by a team-wide bug that caught the Greyhounds during their 12-day district tournament layoff. Supposedly, the Hounds were sick as dogs. It never truly showed Wednesday night in the District 7 championship game.

Jake Elfstrom scored 27 points and the 13th-seeded Patriots (20-4) eliminated the No. 12 seed Eagles (16-9) at University HS. Liberty faces a state elimination game on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. Cletis Hydrink led West Valley with 23 points and Collin Sather added 14.

Jake Wells scored 24 points and the Greyhounds (19-2) defeated the Eagles (15-8). Connor Whitney had 17 points for West Valley. With the win, Pullman takes the Great Northern League championship and a trip to regionals. West Valley will host a glue crossover game on Saturday against Toppenish at 7 p.m.
