Shannon Payne hit a one-out double to score Sydney Shanholtzer from second base in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Mead walked off with a 7-6 victory over Shadle Park in a Greater Spokane League quarterfinal playoff slowpitch softball game Monday. The Panthers were led by Olivia Byers, who was 2 for 3 at the plate, with two doubles and three RBIs. Mead will travel to face number two seed North Central Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a semifinal game.

Senior Emily Welch made the most of her final home stand as the senior smacked a two-out, walk off single to left center, scoring two to lift Gonzaga Prep over Shadle Park 8-7 in the first game of a GSL slowpitch softball game Wednesday. Welch's hit scored Miranda Lahman on third base and Nia Whitfield from second base.
