Lakeside of Seattle's one-two punch of Daejon Davis and Isiah Brown was too much for Rogers, as the Lions overcame the Pirates 76-63 Saturday in a 3A regional round of state game at Mt. Spokane. Lakeside's win books them a trip to Tacoma on Thursday for the state quarterfinals. Davis led all scorers with 27 points. He shot 9-of-15 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Melik Hampton's special effort helped Rogers win the 3A subregional tournament. Hampton totaled 29 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks and three steals, and the Pirates defeated visiting Kennewick 69-59 on Friday. KJ Hassett added 17 points and six rebounds, while Robert Rucker scored eight and tallied 10 assists. Dillon Plew netted 17 points to lead the Lions. Rogers will next host a regional game next weekend, with a potential trip to Tacoma in store if they should win.
