What happened: Amelia Severn scored in overtime and the Thunderbirds (14-2-2) eliminated the Falcons (13-4, 6-3) in a State 3A first-round game at Bellevue HS on Friday. Preslie Young scored in the 67th minute for Ridgeline but Abigail Lee answered for Shorewood in the 79th minute.

What happened: Preslie Young scored twice, including an insurance goal in the 78th minute, and the visiting Falcons (13-3) beat the Panthers (14-4) in the District 8 3A championship game at Union Stadium on Tuesday. Teryn Garnder scored in the 77th minute to get Mead within one until Young sealed it moments later. Mead plays Southridge in the district second-place game on Saturday for a berth to state.
