Jaelynn Skok nailed a 15-foot jumper with 17 seconds overtime to put Chewelah ahead in a 35-34 overtime win in a District 7 1A loser-out playoff game. Newport's Hadley Stratton banked in a layup with 40 seconds to go in regulation to knot the score at 34. Skok scored all four of Chewelah's points in overtime, and Krislyn Koler scored 11 to lead the team. The Cougars advance to a loser-out game on Saturday against the loser of Freeman and Lakeside to claim the No. 2 spot in Regionals.

Hannah Hansen scored 12 points, including the game-winning free throws, and Freeman rallied past Newport 38-37 Tuesday at the District 7 1A tournament at West Valley. The Scotties trailed by six with under two minutes remaining, but 3-pointers from Hansen and Sydney Sather helped cut into the deficit.
