At North Central, the Indians topped Mead 11-8 to advance to the championship game against University. Down 6-4 in the bottom of the 4th inning, North Central coach Chuck Filippini noted that the bottom half of the Indians lineup rattled off six straight hits in the inning, driving in four runs in the process to take the lead for good. Shannon Payne hit a one-out double to score Sydney Shanholtzer from second base in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Mead walked off with a 7-6 victory over Shadle Park in a Greater Spokane League quarterfinal playoff slowpitch softball game Monday. The Panthers were led by Olivia Byers, who was 2 for 3 at the plate, with two doubles and three RBIs. Mead will travel to face number two seed North Central Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a semifinal game.
