Troy Simpkins went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two triples and an RBI and Chiawana eliminated visiting Mead (10-14) 7-4 in the 4A Greater Spokane League/Mid-Columbia Conference bi-regional tournament on Thursday. Marco Romero went 3 for 3 with three RBIs while Trent Simpkins went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two runs. Mason Wells threw a complete game for Mead, earning five strikeouts and only two earned runs, and helped his team to a 4-3 playoff victory over Central Valley. Brandon Hamilton brought in a home run for Central Valley, while Jeremy Yelland pitched six innings for the Bears, while also hitting a double. With this victory, Mead advances to the next round of the playoffs and will play in Chiawana on Thursday, May 11, at 5 p.m. Central Valley is eliminated from the playoffs.
