Gage Young hit a two-run home run and the Falcons eliminated the visiting Saxons (13-10). Ryan Nix threw four innings of one-hit relief for Hanford. Hanford led 8-4 with two outs in the top of the sixth when the Saxons loaded the bases for Brock Bozett, who tied the game with a grand slam. But Hanford pushed two across in the bottom half on an RBI double by Brady White and held on to advance.

What happened: Nick Merkel tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout and the Saxons (12-9) eliminated the visiting Bulldogs (4-20) 8-0 on Saturday in a 4A subregional game. Brock Bozett and Casey Hocking drove in three runs apiece to spark the Saxons’ offense. Ferris moves on to a loser-out game against Saturday’s Walla Walla/Hanford loser on Thursday.
