What happened: Ryan Lafferty scored 18 points, Chapel Smith added 16 and the seventh-seeded Wildcats (21-5) beat the second-seeded Trojans (23-2) in a State 3A regional game at Puyallup HS on Friday. Smith hit four 3-pointers -- all in the fourth quarter as the Cats were able to pull away. Mt. Spokane advances to a state quarterfinal game on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Tacoma Dome. Maverick Sanders added 12 points and Xavier Kamalu-Vargas had 10.
