What happened: Layla Larsen went 4 for 5 with a double, home run and five RBIs and the seventh-seeded Panthers (15-4) built a large lead and held off the second-seeded Storm (17-2) in a State 4A first-round game at Gateway Sports Complex in Yakima on Friday. Larsen hit an RBI double in the first inning, an RBI single in the second, a two-run homer in the third and an RBI single in the fourth. Leah Juarez had four hits with a double and two RBIs for Mead, which advanced to a semifinal against third-seeded Moses Lake (15-4) at 2 p.m.
