What happened: Braeden Smith scored 20 points, 12 in the critical third quarter, and No. 9 Seattle Prep (23-6) eliminated No. 8 Mt. Spokane (19-6) in a State 3A first-round game at the Tacoma Dome. The Panthers, leading by four at intermission, outscored the Wildcats 23-15 in the third to open it up. Greater Spokane League MVP Tyson Degenhart led Mt. Spokane with 21 points and seven rebounds. Mt. Spokane shot 39%, just 4 of 21 form beyond the arc.
