What happened: Jake Pfennigs struck out nine in a complete game and Post Falls (15-12) beat defending champion Rocky Mountain (22-5) 8-4 in an Idaho 5A state first-round game at Borah HS. Chase Cripps had two hits, drove in three and scored twice, while Nate Buer tripled and scored three runs. Brock Zeller pulled off a suicide squeeze play in the fifth to put the Trojans ahead for good. Post Falls plays Timberline (Boise) (16-10) in a semifinal on Friday at 5 p.m. Timberline knocked off Highland 17-6 in six innings in a first-round game.
