The Lancers were sitting in the driver’s seat after the first quarter, but the Pirates took the wheel from the second quarter on, outscoring Liberty by 25 over the final frames.
The Pirates had big games from Cody Young and Lyle Metzenberg who had 20 and 18 points respectively.
Usually a solid 3-point shooting team, the Lancers failed to make an impact from behind the arc, shooting a paltry 20 percent from distance. Liberty was led by Justin Jeske who had 11 points on 5 of 8 shooting. Teammates Thomas Redder and Isaak Ottmar struggled, going only a combined 5 for 21 from the floor.
Adna secured its fifth state trophy and second third-place result.
Liberty earned fifth place for the fifth time in school history and it is their 12th trophy all-time.
