Natalie Newman scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds as La Salle won the third-place game at the state 1A tournament on Saturday, defeating Medical Lake 65-61 in overtime at the SunDome in Yakima.
Kamryn Fiscus had 17 points and seven steals and Tatiana White scored 11 points for the 21-5 Lightning, who outscored the Cardinls 14-10 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Jessie Lohman scored 17 points, Jayda Noble had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Makayla Geiger contributed 12 points for fifth-seeded Medical Lake, which lost its final two games to finish 23-2, good for fifth place.
