Summary

The Rangers picked a bad time to lose their shooting stroke as they only shot 27 percent from the field and their leading scorer this season, Gabi Rick, only had seven points on 2 of 10 shooting.

All in all, it’s a night the Knights took full advantage of as their defense and fast break offense gave them a date with the quarterfinals.

Emily Banks led all scorers with 20 points and six rebounds. But it was the 5-foot-2 spark, Sailor Liefke who was the catalyst behind the easy win.

She had 18 points, but her impact was felt more on the defensive end where her pestering nature gave her seven steals and constant worry among Ranger ballhandlers.

The Rangers didn’t have a ballhandler to deal with the pressure and this game was a sore reminder how much Selkirk could miss star junior and facilitator Jenna Couch, who was lost for the year mid-January.

Sunnyside Christian advances to play top-seeded Colton on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Selkirk plays seventh-seeded Almira/Coulee-Hartline at 12:15 p.m.
