Summary

Jake Levine scored a goal early in the second half and goalkeeper Andrew Bertone picked up the shutout as Central Valley knocked off visiting Sumner in a 4A State opener at Spokane Falls CC on Tuesday. Both teams struggled to get much going in first half that became a midfield battle for possession. Levine found the back of the net almost immediately after the break, finding a way to get his foot on the ball in a crowd of jerseys in front of the goal. Bertone picked up three saves for the Bears, who advance to play the winner of Sunnyside and Camas on Saturday in a state quarterfinal.
