Summary

What happened:

Colton Hansen drove in the winning run and picked up the win as Cusick got an extra-inning victory over Garfield-Palouse on Tuesday 8-7. Hansen finished with a double and 2 RBIs.

After giving up a run, Cusick scored six unanswered runs to take a 6-1 lead in the fourth. After scoring three in the bottom half of the fourth, Mason Bates tied it up at 6-6 with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. After no one scored in the seventh, Cusick got their lead runner, Trevor Shanholtzer, on base to start off the eighth. Shanholtzer then stole second base that was followed up by a walk to give the Panthers runners at first and second. Then with one out, Colton Hansen doubled to the wall that was able to scored both runners and give Cusick an 8-6 lead and eventual win. Garfield-Palouse was able to load the bases in the bottom half, but Hansen recorded three straight outs for the victory.

Cusick advances to play Almira/Coulee-Hartline on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
