Summary

What happened:

Justin Solt struck out 14 batters and Jaden Vandervert smashed four hits on the day as the Highlanders (1-2, 1-0) defeated the Titans (0-2, 0-1) 13-4 on Tuesday to start off league play. Solt pitched 5 2/3 innings picking up his first win of the season while Vandervert hit two triples.

University took an early one-run lead in the top of the first, but Shadle Park put their hits together in the second and third innings to score eight runs. Miguel Stowe had a big day going 2 for 2 at the plate with a triple and 2 RBIs. Caleb Smith touched home plate four times in the win as well.

University did manage seven hits in the game, with Ethan Jones having two and Cory Smith adding another.
