Mabton pulled away late and won 55-43 over Wahkiakum to capture third place in the 2B girl's state tounrmanet at the Spokane Arena on Saturday. Wahkiakum takes fifth in the loss.
Rieley McCallum scored with 5:21 to break a 41-41 and spark an 8-0 Viking run. Britnee Guerrero scored the last six Mabton points to put the Mules away.
Mabton held Wahkiakum scoreless in the last 5:57 of the game and outscored the Mules 19-4 in the final quarter. Both teams struggled with turnovers, with the Mules committing 22 and the Vikings 17.
B. Guerrero led the Vikings with 17 points and five steals , while Desanay Guerrero chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds and Soila Zaragoza added 10 points and six assists in the win. Peyton Souvenir scored 11 points but committed 13 turnovers; Macie Elliot led the Mules with 13 points. .
