Summary

A 27-12 halftime deficit doomed East Valley, which fell to Shorecrest 58-41 in the semifinals of the 2A state girls basketball tournament on Friday in the Yakima Valley SunDome.

Uju Chibuoughu and Wurrie Njadoe led Shorecrest with 15 apiece, while Julia Strand chipped in 14. Chibuoughu also chipped in 11 rebounds.

East Valley's Jordan Phelan had 14 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort.

Shorecrest moves on to play Lynden in the championship game at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights take on Ellensburg at 11:15 a.m.
