Summary

Ryan Ricks and Asher Cox scored 15 points each, and Northwest Christian took down two-time defending champion Morton-White Pass 59-54 Thursday in a thrilling 2B quarterfinal.

The lead changed hands six times in the fourth quarter. Kaleb Poquette twice put the Timberwolves (24-3) in front, the last time on a basket to make it 52-51. But Nathan Sander answered to give the Crusaders (25-2) their final lead. MWP had chances to get back in front, but converted just two of seven free-throw tries down the stretch. Ricks and Sander both made a pair from the line to close it out.

Ian Starkey added 13 points and David Olds netted 12 for NWC. Cox and Sander both snatched eight rebounds.

Matthew Poquette led MWP with 16 points. Kaleb Poquette scored 15, but was the primary free-throw culprit, making just two of eight.
