Summary

Sam Lockett finished with 11 points, a crunch time dunk and the game-sealing steal with five seconds to go to lead Gonzaga Prep over Wenatchee in the 4A state regional on Saturday.

Wenatchee led until the Bullpups took a two point lead at the end of the third quarter, but Wenatchee fought its way back to a four point lead with 1:31 to go in the fourth, but Gonzaga Prep cut the deficit to one. With 21 seconds remaining, Kea Vargas had a steal and flipped it to Lockett behind the back for a transition dunk to go up one. Lockett had a steal with five seconds left, then after being fouled, pushed the lead to 34-32 at the line.

With 2.1 seconds left, Wenatchee advanced the ball, but did not find a sound look at a final shot.

Gonzaga Prep advances to the State 4A tournament in Tacoma.
