Summary

Hannah Hansen scored 12 points, including the game-winning free throws, and Freeman rallied past Newport 38-37 Tuesday at the District 7 1A tournament at West Valley.

The Scotties trailed by six with under two minutes remaining, but 3-pointers from Hansen and Sydney Sather helped cut into the deficit. Hansen was then fouled on a 3-point attempt with two seconds remaining and Freeman down two. She drained all three for the final margin.

Sather finished with nine points and five steals, and Avery Oja grabbed seven rebounds.

Hadley Stratton, Samantha Siemsen and Faith Rosen scored eight points each for the Grizzlies.

Both teams will next be in action on Friday as the tournament resumes.
