Summary

Ryane Maine poured in 29 points, and Freeman got past Newport 57-51 Tuesday at West Valley in the District 7 1A tournament.

Michael Coumount added 13 points for the Scotties, including a key 3-pointer with 1:20 remaining to put Freeman up nine. Jack Paukert chipped in nine points and eight assists.

Owen Leslie led the Grizzlies with 13 points. Danny Bradbury scored 12 points and Koa Pancho tallied 10.

Freeman will now play Lakeside in the district championship on Friday, while Newport will play Medical Lake in a loser-out game.
