Summary

Chase Burnham poured in 29 points and Liberty hung on to the No. 3 seed in Northeast 2B, defeated Davenport 66-64 in a close District 7 playoff game on Friday night at West Valley High School.

The Lancers, who trailed the majority of the second half, took a 49-47 lead with 6:42 remaining and held onto it for the entirety of the fourth quarter. The Gorillas made a run at the end, as Kendall Coppersmith sank a 3-pointer with 27 seconds left to cut the lead to 66-64 and Keith Dumaw turned the ball over with seven seconds left to give the ball back to Davenport. Coppersmith and Layne Smith both got looks from 3-point range, but couldn't get anything to fall and Liberty escaped.

Liberty outrebounded Davenport 31-18 and pulled in 16 offensive rebounds. Duman, who finished with 10 points, finished the game with eight offensive boards.

Nathan Hopkins scored a team-high 29 points for Davenport on 11 of 16 shooting.

Liberty takes on Lind-Ritzville/Sprague on Monday in Dayton for Regionals, while Davenport will play the winner of Walla Walla Academy and Waitsburg.
