Summary

Sydney Clements scored two goals, Alexis Murphy recorded two assists and a goal, and the host Ferris Saxons overcame a slow start to defeat the Central Valley Bears 6-2 in a Greater Spokane League girls soccer match on Friday.

After nearly a half-hour of missed opportunities for Ferris, Clements got the Saxons on the board - and on level terms - in the 26th minute. The junior forward slotted home Murphy's pass to cancel out CV forward Kailyn LaBrosse's 22nd minute opener.

Bria Bowton then put the Saxons ahead with an individual goal in the 29th minute.

Three minutes after halftime, Clements struck again to put Ferris 3-1 up.

Murphy, who added her second assist in the 68th as the Saxons went ahead 4-1, found the back of the net for the last score of the match.

Ferris goalkeeper Chrissy Fitzgerald saved a penalty to keep the Bears at bay.
