Summary

Sophomore Miahna Waters had a match-high 17 kills as Mt. Spokane rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Bishop Blanchet 3-2 in a State 3A volleyball opener Friday at Toyota Center in Kennewick. Senior Kelly Brown added 25 assists and two blocks for the Wildcats, who moved on to a 5 p.m. quarterfinal against Kennedy. Seniors Bailey Ricard and Adrienne Dotson added 12 kills apiece for the Wildcats. Senior Sophie Sliger led the Braves with 22 assists and 15 digs. The Braves used an 11-1 run to win the opener and scored the final five points of the second game. Mt. Spokane dashed ahead 19-11 in the middle game and held off Bishop Blanchet's rally. The Wildcats scored the final five points of the fourth game and broke from a 10-all tie in the decider.
