Parker Webb had 10 kills and five blocks as the top-ranked West Valley (Yakima) Rams improved to 30-0 with a sweep of the University Titans in a State 4A volleyball tournament opener Friday at Toyota Center in Kennewick. Jilllian Berg added nine kills and 10 digs for the Rams. The Rams trailed the first game 20-17 before closing with an 8-1 run. U-Hi also led the second game, 18-15, but WV scored 10 of the next 12 points. The Rams jumped to 12-3 lead in the final game and moved on to Friday night's quarterfinal. U-Hi will play a loser-out match at 6:45 p.m. against Jackson or Bellarmine Prep. The Titans played without 6-foot middle blocker Daryn Griffith, who injured her ankle in practice this week. Sophomore Rachael Schlect had 12 kills, seven digs and four blocks to lead the Titans.
