Summary

Freeman strung together a seven-run rally in the first and held on to defeat Connell 9-5 Saturday in the State 1A tournament at Moses Lake.

Several Scotties contributed to the onslaught; Jake Phipps went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, McKabe Cottrell scored twice and batted 2 for 3, Ian Johnston drove in two on a 2-for-4 effort and Chance Halstead was 2 for 4 with a run-scoring triple.

Phipps earned the win after allowing just two earned runs.

Freeman (20-4) will now play Hoquiam next Saturday in Yakima in the semifinals.
