Summary

Connor Pratt went the distance on the mound and started the Blackhawks' big sixth inning as Cheney outlasted host Ellensburg and earned a spot in the state tournament with a 6-5 victory.

Pratt battled back after allowing a three-run homer in the first inning to Alonso Biblano that relinquished the Blackhawks' early 3-0 edge. Over the final six innings Pratt allowed only two runs to give Cheney a chance.

Pratt started that chance in the sixth inning when he led off with a triple with the game tied at four. After two outs that failed to push Pratt home and two walks to that loaded the bases, Riley Jones stepped to the plate.

Jones ripped a two-run, ground rule double down the left-field line that gave the Blackhawks the lead for good.

Logan Pratt backed his brother at first base for Cheney with timely picks of off-line throws from the infielders.

Connor Pratt finished with 12 strikeouts on the mound while scattering eight hits and walking five.
