Summary

Kyle Shuey drew a walk-off bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning and Mt. Spokane beat Kennewick in the 3A regional tournament on Saturday to earn a chance to play for the final State 3A berth.

The walk-off capped a furious Wildcat rally, which saw Mt. Spokane score the final six runs of the game after spotting the Lions to a 5-0 lead. Shuey helped Mt. Spokane get to the extra frame when he hit a fielders' choice RBI, which scored two runs to tie the game when the infielder committed an error. Mt. Spokane's Jared Bell finished 3 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Starting pitcher Mathew Pulliam scattered four hits and allowed no earned runs but was hurt by seven Mt. Spokane errors. Brandon Mau (5-0) pitched the eighth inning to pick up the win.

Mt. Spokane will play the Highlanders at Shadle Park on Monday at 4 p.m. for the second and final 3A berth to state.
