Summary

Cusick used some first-inning fireworks to move past Pomeroy 7-4 Saturday in the 1B regional at Medical Lake.

After the Pirates pushed across three runs in the top of the first, the Panthers responded with six in the bottom of the frame. Renee Wynne batted 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs, and Iola Hansen added an RBI on a 3-for-4 day. Brianna Balcolm fanned six as she earned the win.

Cusick will now play Colton next Saturday in Medical Lake in a winner-to-state game.
