Summary

Central Idaho League MVP Isaac Walters led St. Maries to a 9-3 thumping of Melba Thursday in the State 2A tournament quarterfinal.

Walters, the Lumberjacks' catcher, batted 2 for 3 and scored three runs while also driving in one. St. Maries scored in every inning but the second. Bryant Asbury, another all-league selection, spun a complete game and gave up just five hits.

The Lumberjacks will now play Nampa Christian Friday at 4:00 in the semifinals.
