Summary

Macie Reynolds hit two home runs and drove in six total runs, including an two-run double in the top of the 11th inning, as Central Valley (12-9) held on to edge Mead (14-7) 16-15 in the first semifinal of District 8 4A tournament at Whitworth University. Central Valley jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, led by Shayla Vegas's two home runs, and held an 8-1 lead after five innings before Mead rallied to score 10 runs in the final three innings to force the extra frames. Mead's seventh-inning rally was capped by a two-run single by Meredith Clark and an RBI single by Mikaylie King. The Bears will play University at 5 p.m. Friday at Whitworth for the district title. Both teams have qualified for regionals. Mead will meet Lewis and Clark at 3 p.m. Friday in a winner-to-regional, loser-out game.
