Summary

Pomeroy gave up the momentum in the third quarter, and then stole it back in the fourth.

The Pirates limited the Cougars to just four points in the final quarter and blew past Curlew 51-39 in a 1B consolation game at the Arena.

Pomeroy's Cole Mayfield had 13 points and seven rebounds, Tyson Feider added 11 points and five boards and Kade Snyder chipped in 10 points.

Curlew struggled against Pomeroy's full-court pressure. The Cougars had 26 turnovers, which gave Pomeroy a lot of more opportunities. The Pirates attempted 62 shots, compared to just 28 shot attempts for Curlew.

The Cougars trailed by five at the half, but used a 12-5 third-quarter run to take a two-point lead into the fourth. Then came the fourth-quarter drought, one that saw Curlew score two points in the first 7 and a half minutes.

Curlew's Coby Grumbach made 10 of 14 free throws and led all scorers with 14 points.

Pomeroy will play Cusick in Saturday's fourth-sixth place game. Tip off is at 9:30 a.m.
