Lakeland came out cold, scoring just 4 points in the first quarter, and built a deficit it couldn't overcome in a 46-29 loss to Burley in a 4A State tournament elimination game at Borah High in Boise on Friday.
The Hawks trailed by 7 at the half and cut the Bobcats lead to 3 by the end of the third quarter before Burley (15-11) surged for 19 points in the fourth to put the game away.
The Hawks (16-8), who shot a paltry 26.1 percent from the field, were led by Tyrel Derrick’s 10 points on 4-for-13 shooting.
Burley’s Mackinley Quast scored a game-high 12 points. The Bobcats, 20 for 26 from the line, shot 24 more free throws than Lakeland (1 for 2).
Austin Henry grabbed a game-high 9 rebounds for Lakeland.
