Summary

Pateros put up quite the fight, but it was the six-time defending state 1B champions who prevailed.

Zoe Moser poured in 36 points and added seven rebounds and six assists and Colton finally gained control in the fourth quarter and beat the upset-minded Billygoats in a 1B quarterfinal game at the Arena. Moser made 11 of 24 shots and 12 of 16 free throws. Savannah Chadwick added 16 points.

The teams traded buckets and turnovers in a frantically-paced third quarter. Pateros' Ashton Steggall quickly erased Colton's five-point halftime lead with a jumper and a 3-pointer in the first 2 minutes of the third quarter.

Vanesa Figueroa's 3-pointer with 4:10 left in the third gave Pateros a 43-40 lead, but Colton responded to the pressure. The Wildcats ended the quarter on a 16-10 run to take a 56-53 lead heading into the fourth.

Colton's Meghan Devorak hit a jumper to open the fourth, and then, following a Pateros turnover, Zoe Moser scored to put Colton on top 60-53 with just less than 7 minutes left. The Wildcats held on from there.

Steggall finished with a team-high 19 points and Katarina Wilson added nine.

Colton beat Pateros 60-22 in last year's State 1B semifinals.
