Summary

University was caught in another nail-biter on Friday. This time, it went their way. Robert Little tallied 14 points and six rebounds, and the Titans held off visiting Mead 54-53.

U-High was coming off a 3-point loss to rival Central Valley and a one-point buzzer-beating loss at Gonzaga Prep. This time, they built an early lead, then held on to edge the Panthers.

The Titans raced out to a 23-10 lead after the first period, as they made three three-pointers in the period. Little scored eight of his 14 in the first, and Garrett Schmerer had six.

Mead fought back to get within one entering the fourth. U-High was able to hold on this time, as the game devolved into a free-throw shooting contest. After a pair of U-High misses with eight seconds left, Brandon Pettersen drew a foul with 1.7 left on the clock and a chance to tie. He made the first, but his second bounced off and was batted out of bounds, and the Panthers couldn't get off a final shot.

Dray White added 12 points, Spencer Matt netted 11 and Garrett Schmerer totaled eight points and nine assists for University. The win keeps the Titans in the hunt for the GSL title entering the final week of league play.

Max Hess dropped in a game-best 19 points for the Panthers, while Josh Richter notched 12 points and five boards.
