Summary

Gonzaga Prep had to battle back to remain unbeaten, as the Bullpups defeated Central Valley 53-51 on Thursday in a showdown of top 10 teams.

The teams entered play as the top two of the GSL standings, and the game lived up to expectations. GP held a 23-19 halftime lead, only to see the Bears storm in front with an 18-8 third quarter. The Bullpups fought back in the fourth, and finally retook the lead with three minutes remaining. The outcome was in doubt until the final possession, however, when Lauren Weir intercepted a CV inbounds pass with four seconds remaining.

Laura Stocketon led Prep with 19 points, six assists and five steals. Otiona Gildon tacke on 18 points and six boards for the state's top-ranked 4A school.

Lexie Hull netted 20 points to lead CV (No. 8 in state).
