Summary

Gus Colburn was named Intermountain League MVP on Wednesday. His play on the floor only validated that decision.

Colburn knocked in 26 points, and Kellogg dispatched Bonners Ferry 53-39 in the 3A District I championship game at North Idaho College.

The win qualifies the Wildcats for the State tournament, where they will begin play Thursday, March 5 at Meridian.

After a slow first quarter where they trailed 16-11, the Wildcats burst ahead with an 18-7 spurt in the second. They grew their 29-23 halftime lead even further after the break.

Caleb McDonald added eight points for top-ranked Kellogg, which has won 11 straight games.

Collin Stone led the Badgers with 10 points. BF will now host Timberlake on Thursday, with the winner advancing to a State play-in game on Saturday.
