Central Valley suffered a heartbreaking loss Saturday, as host Walla Walla rallied in the fourth to win 58-56 and knock the Bears out of the 4A subregional tournament.
CV led by six entering the fourth quarter, but the Blue Devils rallied. Kate Ferenz sank a pair of free throws with three seconds left to put the hosts up two. CV earned a trip to the line as well, but after an accidental miss on the first and an intentional miss on the second, the clock ran out on the game and the Bears' season.
Lacie Hull and Madison Hovren scored 19 points each to lead CV, with Hovren adding five rebounds.
Ferenz led WW with 11 points, as the Blue Devils advance to the regional round of state.
