Summary

Alec Bluff netted 22 points and had 10 rebounds, and Cusick played inspired defense in the second half as they rallied past Selkirk 47-35 in the District 7 1B Tournament at Deer Park on Saturday.

For the Panthers, the win secures a date in the regional round of state next weekend, while the Rangers are eliminated.

It looked for much of the game that Selkirk would be advancing instead, as they led 23-17 at the half. But Cusick made some defensive changes in the second half and held the Rangers to just 12 points and the intermission. The Panthers' defensive efforts were led by Spirit White, who also scored eight points. Bluff scored 10 of his 22 in the fourth, where Cusick went in front to stay with a 17-2 spurt.

Chad Browneagle tacked on 10 points and 11 rebounds. Cusick also shot 80% (12/15) on free throws.

Jacob Couch had a team-high 15 points for Selkirk.
